Are we becoming irrelevant?

If we believe that schools, teachers, and classrooms are in the business of being the gatekeepers of information, this has the potential to be true.

Our role in society needs to evolve. We cannot be counters of grades and sorters of kids. We are not the keepers of information. Our new role is one that is "high - touch" as Daniel Pink calls it. While teachers and classrooms have always been this when it comes to providing a safe and caring environment for our students themselves, we also need to become this with the tools, the skills, and the curricula that we are offering.

What can kids get in our space that they cannot get anywhere else?

My Response:

I believe he is right about teachers and classrooms getting a face-lift. Today's teachers need to work more closely with student. Technology is helping us achieve this. When working with technology teachers need to help guide their students. Teachers and technology together can help bring out a student's creativity. Bringing technology into the classroom will only enhance a students mind and prepare them for the future.
